A place. A feeling. Your words.

Find that one.
Keep it yours.

Private photo and video search.
All on your iPhone. All in your words.

On-device AI Offline after setup Your memories stay yours

Not the date. Not the album.
Just the moment you remember.

A few words.
A whole memory.

01 / Find the photo

  1. Start with a little clue.

Type what you remember, like “jumping into the sea.” ThatOne compares it with every photo you’ve chosen to include.

  2. Say it your way.

Northern lights, a birthday, the dog’s first day home. No folders, tags, or dates to recall.

  3. There’s the one.

The closest match comes first, with similar moments close behind.

The moment.
Inside the video.

02 / Find the moment

  1. Every video, in moments.

ThatOne samples frames from the videos you include, so what happens inside them becomes searchable.

  2. Describe what happened.

“Jumping into the sea.” Every sampled frame is compared, right on your iPhone.

  3. Play from the moment that matched.

Found it. Right at 00:03, no scrubbing required.

One memory
opens another.

03 / Follow the feeling

  1. Found a favorite? More like this.

Photos with a similar scene and feel gather around the one you love.

  2. Then follow it.

Open any one of them and the neighborhood moves with you.

  3. Wherever the feeling goes.

From a jump into the sea, to a first wave, to a sunrise at the summit. Still entirely on your phone.

Simple to use.
Lovely to come back to.

01 Start with a little clue.
02 There’s the one.
03 Found it. Right at 00:03.
04 More like this.
05 Private by design.

Less looking.
More laughing.

“us losing it on the roof”

Two friends on a night bus, eyes shut with laughter over a phone.

“night bus, 2am”

Friends at a sleepover mid pillow fight while one holds up a phone.

“pillow fight sleepover”

Two friends, one with glitter on her cheek, laughing as they take a selfie at a festival.

“glitter, festival, best day ever”

Everything happens
on your iPhone.

04 / Private by nature

  1. Your photos stay here.

Photos and videos are processed on your device. Your library isn’t uploaded for AI to search it.

  2. Your words stay here, too.

Search queries run on your iPhone. Your memories and search words aren’t sent to an AI provider.

  3. Ready when you’re offline.

After the one-time model download and library scan, searching needs no internet connection.

Google’s open model.
Your private world.

How it works

  1. Your memories become vectors.

EmbeddingGemma 2 turns photos and sampled video frames into vectors: lists of numbers that represent visual meaning.

  2. The index stays on your phone.

ThatOne stores those vectors locally. Your photos and videos stay in your library; their search index stays on your iPhone.

  3. Your words become a vector, too.

When you describe a memory, the same model converts your query into a vector in that shared space.

  4. The closest meaning finds the memory.

ThatOne compares the query vector with the local index and brings back similar photos or matching video moments.

Good to know

A little clarity.

Because private should be simple.

Does it really work without the internet?

Yes. First, connect once to download the search model and let ThatOne scan the photos and videos you choose. After that, search runs entirely on your iPhone with no internet connection. Cloud-only media needs to be available on your device to view the original.

Are my photos or searches uploaded?

No. ThatOne processes your library and search words on your device. Your photos, videos, and queries aren’t sent to a server or an AI provider. The initial model download brings the search model to your phone. The app does send a little technical information, like your iPhone’s model and language: the privacy statement lists all of it.

Can I choose what ThatOne searches?

Yes. You control Photos access and choose the albums to include. ThatOne prepares those photos and videos for search on your device.

What happens when I add more memories?

The first scan prepares your chosen library. Later, ThatOne checks for new and changed media while the app is open, so it can update the search without starting the whole library again.

When can I download it?

ThatOne is coming soon to the App Store for iPhone. This page will link to the listing when it’s available.

Your memories are waiting.

Less scrolling.
More remembering.

Coming soon to the App Store

ThatOne for iPhone

Privacy statement

Your photos, videos, and searches never leave your iPhone. To keep ThatOne running, the app sends a little technical information about itself and your iPhone. This statement lists all of it, and why.

What stays on your iPhone

Your photos and videos, your albums, what you search for, the search index ThatOne builds, and the places and dates it reads from your photos. ThatOne works all of this out on your iPhone and never uploads it. We can’t see any of it.

What the app sends when it opens

Each time you open ThatOne while you’re online, it checks in with our server at api.thatone.io. The check-in carries:

Our server adds the time, the app’s user agent (its build and the iOS networking version), and a rough location that Cloudflare works out from your IP address: country, region, city, continent, and time zone. Your full IP address isn’t stored with these records, only its first three parts (for IPv6, the network prefix), which point to a network rather than to your iPhone. For each device identifier, we also keep how many times it has checked in, when it first and last did, and which announcement, if any, it was shown.

Why we use it

We don’t use it for advertising. We don’t sell it or share it with advertisers or data brokers, we don’t build profiles of you, and we don’t track you across other companies’ apps or websites.

Downloading the search model

During setup, ThatOne downloads its search model once from model.thatone.io. The request carries no identifier from the app. As with any web request, our provider, Cloudflare, sees your IP address in order to deliver the file.

Announcements

An announcement is a short video or an image. Videos play from YouTube in its privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). While a video plays, Google receives your IP address and basic device information under Google’s privacy policy. Images load from our website. Tapping the button opens the App Store or a web page.

Who handles it

Our server and database run on Google Cloud in Belgium. Cloudflare provides our network and stores the model file. Both handle the information only on our instructions. Where either handles it outside the EU, it’s protected by the safeguards the GDPR requires, such as the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep it

Each check-in is deleted automatically 13 months after it’s made, and a device identifier’s count 13 months after its last check-in. Google Cloud’s technical logs, which can include full IP addresses, are kept for up to 30 days to run and secure the service.

Our legal basis

We rely on our legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) in running, maintaining, and improving ThatOne, and telling its users about it. We keep the information minimal, tied to a device identifier rather than to you, and short-lived, so that it doesn’t outweigh your privacy. You can object at any time.

Your choices and rights

After setup, ThatOne works offline, and it sends nothing while your iPhone is offline. Deleting ThatOne, along with any other apps from us, resets the device identifier, so later check-ins can’t be connected to earlier ones.

You have the right to access, correct, or delete your information, to restrict or object to its use, and to receive a copy. Email [email protected]. Because records are tied to a device identifier rather than your name, we may ask for details that help us find yours, such as your iPhone model and roughly when you used ThatOne. You can also complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) or the authority where you live.

This website

thatone.io sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and loads nothing from other companies. If you pause the page’s motion, your browser remembers that choice on your device. Google Cloud’s technical logs, described above, cover the website too.

Changes

If we change what ThatOne sends or how we use it, we’ll update this statement and its date first.

Who we are

ThatOne is made by Atanas Youroukov in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, who is responsible for this information (the controller). Questions: [email protected].
